The Nova Scotia Legislature established Alexander Graham Bell Day through the Alexander Graham Bell Day Act (Bill No. 192), introduced by MLA Russell MacKinnon. The bill received royal assent on May 19, 2005, designating March 7 as Alexander Graham Bell Day throughout the province to commemorate the 1876 telephone patent.
