February 1-28
National Snack Food Month
A month-long food observance in February celebrating the wide variety of snack foods available and encouraging indulgence in favorite snacks.
Snack Food Association and National Potato Promotion Board
Institutional Initiative
The Snack Food Association (now SNAC International) and the National Potato Promotion Board created National Snack Food Month in 1989 to increase snack food consumption, raise awareness about snacking, and highlight the variety of available snacks during February.
Introduction
February 1 marks the start of National Snack Food Month, a time to indulge in all your favorite treats without any guilt. This month-long celebration was created to honor the delicious and diverse world of snacks, from sweet to savory, crunchy to chewy. Did you know that snacking has been around since ancient times? In fact, the word "snack" comes from the Middle Dutch word "snac," meaning a bite or morsel. So during this month, let's celebrate our love for snacking and discover new tasty treats to enjoy!

How to Celebrate National Snack Food Month
1
Create a snack food charcuterie board
Get creative with your favorite snack foods by arranging them on a charcuterie board. Mix and match sweet and savory snacks for the ultimate snacking experience.
2
Host a snack food tasting party
Invite friends over and have everyone bring a different type of snack food to try. You can even turn it into a competition and have people vote on their favorite snack.
3
Try making your own snack foods
Instead of buying pre-packaged snacks, challenge yourself to make your own versions at home. From granola bars to chips, the possibilities are endless.
4
Take a snack food road trip
Research the best snack food spots in your area and plan a road trip to try them all. You might discover some hidden gems along the way.
5
Create a snack food-inspired meal
Get creative in the kitchen and incorporate your favorite snack foods into a main course or dessert. For example, make a pizza topped with chips or use cereal as a crust for a pie.
