Texas Independence Day celebrates the “Lone Star” state's independence from Mexico in 1836 and the Texas declaration of independence. It is a day to remember the brave sacrifices made by Texans who fought for freedom and liberty as well as celebrate Texas culture and heritage.
It marks the spirit of 'Texanism'
March 2nd also denotes the spirit of 'Texanism,' which was exemplified at the Alamo in San Antonio when 187 people chose to give their lives protecting protected their vision of freedom. This spirit is found in each Texan today who takes to heart the state motto, "Friendship" and stands up proudly for what they believe in.
