February 1-28
Love the Bus Month
This Love the Bus Month, show your appreciation for bus drivers and join us in promoting safe, reliable, and efficient public transportation!
Introduction
Celebrate Love the Bus Month on February 1 by showing your appreciation for buses and bus drivers everywhere! This month-long celebration was first created in 2003 by the American School Bus Council to recognize the important role that school buses play in our communities. Not only do they help get students to school safely, but they also provide many other vital services such as transporting goods and people to work, medical facilities, and more. Show your love and appreciation for all that buses have done for us by participating in Love the Bus Month this year!
Love the Bus Month Timeline
How to Celebrate Love the Bus Month
1
Organize a bus appreciation day
Gather a group of friends or family members and go to your local bus station for a day of appreciation. Bring along snacks, decorations, and music to celebrate bus drivers, mechanics, and everyone who works hard to keep the buses running.
2
Write a letter
Write letters of appreciation to your local bus drivers and staff. Let them know how much you enjoy riding the bus and how much you appreciate their hard work.
3
Participate in bus art projects
Find out if there are any art projects going on in your area that involve decorating or painting buses. It's a great way to express your love of the bus while having fun.
4
Plan an outing with the bus
Plan a special outing with your family or friends using only the bus. Pick a destination that isn't too far away but still requires taking the bus to get there.
5
Donate time or money
Donate either time or money to help support your local transit authority. Even small donations can make a difference in helping to keep the buses running.
Why We Love Love the Bus Month
Public transit is better for the environment
Public transit reduces carbon emissions and promotes a healthier environment. Taking the bus instead of driving your own car can significantly reduce air pollution and promote more sustainable transportation options. By utilizing public buses, you’re taking an active step towards creating an environmentally responsible future!
It's cheaper than owning a car
Owning a car can be expensive. From registration fees to gas costs, the expenses can add up quickly - not to mention the cost of insurance and maintenance. With public transit, even those on a tight budget can take advantage of inexpensive transportation for everyday activities like getting to work or running errands.
Fewer cars mean less traffic
By taking the bus, you're helping to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips which improves overall traffic flow and helps make roads safer for everyone. Not only that, but fewer cars on the road means fewer emitters in our air which contributes to better air quality and improved health outcomes.
